A new scheme from 15 September 2026

The 60-day tourism exemption was revoked. The revised schemes took effect on 15 September 2026, following Cabinet approval on 19 May 2026 and Royal Gazette publication on 31 August 2026. Travellers admitted before 15 September keep the stay already stamped in their passport.

Each listed country or territory has one scheme below. Everyone else requires a visa: apply via Thai e-Visa. Thai nationals do not use these foreign-national schemes.

30-day exemption: 60 countries and territories. 15-day exemption: Seychelles and Mauritius. Bilateral exemptions: 14 or 90 days where verified. Visa on Arrival: 15 days for Azerbaijan, Belarus and Serbia.

Conditions to keep in mind

• Exemptions are for tourism purposes only. Travel Document for Aliens holders are not eligible.
• Funds: 20,000 THB per person or 40,000 THB per family.
• Land/sea entries under exemption are limited to twice per calendar year, except for Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and Singapore.
• For the 15-day exemption, TAT states a maximum of two land-border entries per calendar year.
• Myanmar’s 14-day bilateral exemption applies at international airports only.

Can you extend an exempt stay?

Extensions are at the immigration officer’s discretion. Apply before your permitted stay ends.

Visa on Arrival has its own conditions

Azerbaijan, Belarus and Serbia qualify for 15-day tourism Visa on Arrival. It is generally not extendable except for illness. See the Visa on Arrival document and funds checklist.
