Arriving at a Thai airport: step by step (BKK, DMK, HKT, CNX)

From the aircraft to the arrivals hall

  1. Disembark and follow the arrival route

Follow the arrival route towards immigration. At Suvarnabhumi SAT-1, disembark on level 2, go down to B2 and take the APM to the Main Terminal Building, then go to the 2nd-floor arrival hall.

  2. Complete immigration clearance

Have your passport and TDAC QR document available for immigration. If you need TDAC help on arrival, contact airport or immigration staff.

  3. Collect your baggage

After immigration, go to baggage claim and collect your luggage.

  4. Pass through Customs

Use Green for nothing to declare or goods within duty-free concessions. Use Red for prohibited, controlled or restricted goods, or dutiable goods over concessions. If in doubt, use Red. Green-channel travellers can still be selected for examination.

  5. Enter the arrivals hall

After Customs, follow the exit into the arrivals hall.

TDAC QR, kiosks and Wi-Fi

The official TDAC FAQ lists kiosks and Wi-Fi on arrival at Suvarnabhumi (BKK), Don Mueang (DMK), Phuket (HKT), Chiang Mai (CNX) and Hat Yai (HDY). For a kiosk submission, the QR code is sent by email only; the FAQ says to take a photo of the QR code from the kiosk.

Printing is not required if you can show the QR document on your phone. Print a copy if you will not have a device. If the QR email has not arrived, contact the Immigration Officer at the entry checkpoint. If the website is unavailable, keep a screenshot and contact airport or immigration staff.

Which Customs channel?

Thai Customs describes the Red and Green channel system at all major airports, after immigration. Green is for nothing to declare or goods within duty-free concessions. Red is for prohibited, controlled or restricted goods, or dutiable goods above concessions. Green does not rule out examination; use Red if in doubt.
